Sushi and a Euro Mullet!

Tonight my brother and I are going out for Sushi and to see The Da Vinci Code. I'm really looking forward to a break from the accounting madness that has taken over my weekdays. It really hasn't been that hard. I've aced my first two tests (that's right...we've had two test within eight days of class...and we have two more to take during the last 6 days!). It's just fast paced and you have to do work everyday. Poor me! (insert sarcasm here)

Anyhoo, I'll let you know how the movie is. I'm definitely excited, but also worried that it's not gonna be as good as the book. We'll see...

The Slow Days of Summer

It felt like summer officially started this weekend. It was just hot enough to be uncomfortable outside. It totally makes me want to go swimming.

The weekend was a pretty slow one. I made it to Brooke's "Last night in Little Rock" get together at Vino's on Saturday. It was good to see the two of them off. It is also good that they are only moving to Batesville...not too far away. Other than that it's just been the usual--homework, cleaning, packing, blah, blah, blah.

I only have two more weeks of summer class left, which also means only two more weeks of baking at the restaurant left. This ALSO means that in only six short weeks I will be moving! Have I mentioned how ready I am to move into the new house?......Yes?......Okay, just making sure.

Oy!

So, all of a sudden I've become insanely busy!! I've started my summer class (principles of accounting) and it's conceptually easy but quite tedious, and since the class only last three weeks we're moving at quite an accelerated pace. I started on Monday and we've already had two quizzes, seven homework assignments and we have our first test tomorrow morning. Sheesh!

This was all preceeded by a very busy weekend too. Friday was Brooke's graduation. Saturday was Eric and Emily's shower and then having some girl time with Kristen and Annie at the Rose. Both evenings were quite fun. Sunday was mother's day, and throw into the mix working at Stoby's filling almost 40 dessert orders for the holiday. Anyway, I made brunch for the fam on mother's day. Check out the deliciousness below.
I served Tortellini Pasta Salad with Chicken and Sun Dried Tomatoes, fresh fruit, a green salad, and Shitake Mushroom and Corn Quiche.

For dessert we had Chocolate Berry Truffle Cake.

One last thing....

For those who have been curious about the Mozart, here he is in all his beaver fighting glory. Really though, he's doing much better. We're just waiting for the wounds to heal and then he'll be completely back to normal.

Snip-its

-Um, yeah, so did the endless storm last night keep anyone else up? I didn't get out of bed until 10AM because my sleep had been so interrupted. Also, this giant piece of tree fell on our house. Luckily it didn't do any serious damage.

-Yea! My grades are in and my acceptance to Pharm school still stands. I came out with a B in organic (which I was quite surprised with...after the final I was totally expecting/praying for a C) and Calculus, and, the mother of all shocks, I came out with an A in physics. Don't ask me how...I still don't even remember taking the final.

-Double Yea! My little brother comes home today for the summer from Wash U in St. Lou. He's finally decided on a major...it's a double too...bio-medical engineering and German. Good for him. (He's the one of us five kids who got the super-brain.)

-I've picked up a couple more hours of baking at the restaurant and have also given them notice. My last day there will be June 3rd. I've applied to work at Christ Lutheran Summer Day Camp for the rest of the summer. It pays quite well and I've worked there before and have always enjoyed. (They pay you to go lay out at the pool twice a week for goodness sake!)

-Mozart is getting better everyday. He's mobile now and has even managed to scratch out one of the staples. We're having to watch him constantly to keep him away from the wounds. We're also thinking of changing his name to Uzi (warning-grossness ahead!) because the wounds the vet left open are still quite drippy (in a good clean way, not an infected way...but we still don't want it on the carpet). Mo thanks you all for your support.

-Super Triple Quadruple Fantastic Yea! I move to LR in a short 7 1/2 weeks! Like a nut, I've already started packing. Blue thinks I'm crazy, but I'm just so excited that I couldn't resist. Also, I've started to go a little interior design crazy. I'm picking out new furniture, finishes, accessories, window treatment, outdoor furniture, landscaping ideas...yeah, I can't really afford any of it at the moment. It's kind of like going to the dress department as a teenager and trying on expensive gowns even though you don't need one...a girl can dream (and I've started a savings plan).

Note to self: Wrestling with a beaver is never a good idea!

So, we're pretty sure Mozart was attacked by a beaver Friday night. Blue had taken him out to the UCA nature preserve for a run that night. Mozart diappeared into the woods as usual. Blue called for him when it was time to walk home but got no response. After quite some time Mozart appeared at the edge of the woods and just stopped. Blue had to call him repeatedly to get him moving and when he finally made it to where Blue was he collapsed. Blue noticed big gashes all over one side of his body. He knew they weren't gonna make the walk home, so he called me to come and pick them up. Mozart hobbled to my car and we drove home. Once we got home he was in so much pain that he wouldn't get out of the car. He ended up spending the night in my back seat. Blue took him to the vet the next morning and he now has four rows of staples on his body to close up the big wounds and several other open cuts that the doctor left alone. This all includes big patches of shaved fur on one side of this body. He was in pretty bad shape right after he got home from the vet. He was dopey from the drugs that they had given him but we managed to lift him out of the car and onto his bed that we had brought into the garage with only a few yelps. He didn't move until around 7pm that evening when we finally got him to stand up and go to the bathroom out in the yard. He's doing much better today. He's more mobile and is eating and drinking now. He's got at least a month long recovery ahead of him before he's back to normal. We're pretty sure it was a beaver attack because we've seen and heard beavers in the creek next to the nature preserve where Mozart likes to swim. We also read that beavers try to drown their victims and Mozart was completely wet including his head when Blue first saw him. Other than this, it's been a good weekend, but man is it hard to see him in such bad shape. He could use any little doggie prayers you've got. Thank goodness he's gonna be okay.

Sweet Relief! (almost)

Yahoo! I'm done with finals. Now I just have to wait on my grades (I'm a little worried about Organic II...I just have to get a C to hold my acceptance into Pharm school). I feel weird because I don't have anything to study for now. I don't know what to do with myself. I'm sure in a day or two I'll start to finally relax. I'll probably get another job for the summer so I can save up some money to buy furniture for the new house. I'm so glad school is finally done!! Time to par-tay!

I Still Don't Believe Its Really True!

I know I'm supposed to be studying for finals, but I just couldn't wait to share the good news! I found a house!! It's in the Cardinal Heights/Briarwood area near Christ Lutheran School and its spectacular. Our offer was excepted, we're under contract, and barring any catastrophic findings during the inspection, I will officially be a home owner on June 29th! Housewarming party anyone??

The new house!
